W.A.T.C.H. CO-OP

Williamson Area Teachers of Christian Homeschoolers

WATCH CO-OP is a teaching co-op, which meets every Friday morning for approximately three hours.  WATCH is a volunteer organization and, while it provides a variety of learning experiences to enhance our children’s lives, it is not school.  Our program year consists of two semesters.  The fall semester runs from the first week of September through to the last week of November.  We may visit a nursing home but we will always have our own Christmas program.  The spring semester begins in January and ends in the last week of April.  A graduation program is held after co-op ends in the spring for kindergarten, eighth grade and high school.  Other family programs as well as field days, field trips and rehearsals may also be scheduled.

This co-op is for homeschooling families with at least one child that is in structured kindergarten or higher grades.  Accommodations are made for nursery through preschool.  In order to participate, a parent must teach or assist during the class day.  These assignments are determined at our various planning meetings and by the panel of officers. Upon joining the co-op, serious commitment to the weekly schedule, co-op guidelines and programs is mandatory. (Arrangements may be made in the event of a family illness.)

The co-op does not meet officially for the summer.

Members must be able to agree with and sign our statement of faith, waiver, and commitment form to participate in the co-op.  Applicants will be added to the member list in the order in which applications are received and approved.  An interview may be scheduled before acceptance.

WATCH Co-op is currently FULL

Email the Membership Director if interested in joining.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

Statement of Faith

The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God and constitutes His completed and final revelation to man. The Bible, in its original autograph, is without error in whole and in part, including theological concepts as well as geographical and historical details.

God is a Spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in His being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth. There is but one God, the living and true God. There are three persons in the Godhead, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one God, the same in essence, equal in power and glory. Jesus Christ was God come in human flesh being fully God and fully man, except without sin.

All men are in violation of God’s righteous requirements and His hold character both by nature and act, and are therefore under His wrath and just condemnation.

The central purpose of the coming of Jesus Christ was to pay the penalty for mans’ sin through His substitutionary death on the cross, the successful accomplishment of which was attested to by His subsequent visible bodily resurrection.

Salvation is offered as a gift, free to the sinner. This gift must be responded to in individual faith, not trusting in any personal works whatsoever, but in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone.

We hold as belief and conviction that children are God-given as a stewardship to the parent and not the state, and that parents have the wherewithal and authority to teach and educate their own children. (Proverbs 22:6, Deut. 6:6-7, Eph. 6:4)

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Statement of Purpose

The WATCH co-op has been formed by a group of Christian Home schooling parents to provided extra-curricular classes for our children. The co-op will provide a base of instruction in those areas best taught in a group setting, and a base for group interaction and development of social skills. Class will encourage salvation and personal growth centered on God’s Word, the Bible. Conduct should conform to Biblical standards at all times, subject to officers’ interpretation. The family unit described in the Scripture (one man married to one woman) is held to be the normal family unit that is required in the Co-op; both dual parent and single parent heterosexual families are welcomed after application approval by the board officers.
